Welcome to the second installment of our How To Accentuate Your Favorite Feature series.
This week we’re talking all things bust and four simple style tips to make your boobs look awesome!
(Make sure to grab your free cheat sheet below.)
A Disclaimer:
Some clients think that dressing to accentuate your bust means dressing sleazy. It absolutely is doesn’t – unless that’s your jam.
Or that everything in your closet needs to be second-skin. It absolutely doesn’t – unless that’s your jam.
Like last week when we chatted about legs, the tips we’re going to chitter-chatter about are more subtle. (What? You missed the Your Legs Look Amazing! article? No worries, you can catch up here.)
With these tips, you’ll see that accentuating your bust doesn’t have to mean blowing people away by flashing your gravity-defying cleavage. Unless, (you guessed it), that’s your jam.
Tip #1 – Bra Fitting:
I know! It’s not very sexy. But if the ‘experts’ are right and 80% of us are wearing the wrong size, then it’s the perfect place to start.
Especially after the crazy year we’ve had, and the impact WFH and quarantine has had on our weight. If you’ve had any kind of fluctuation on the scale, making sure you’re wearing the right size is even more critical.
Like Milk – Bras Expire:
We also have a tendency to hold onto bras past their expiration date. A good rule of thumb is that a bra will last for 180 wears.
Where To Go?
Nothing replaces an in-person bra fitting. Places like Third Love will predict a size from a list of on-line questions, but a lot of your answers are based on the bra you’re currently wearing. And if your current bra isn’t right, their prediction won’t be accurate.
My all-time favorite place for bra-fittings is Dillard’s. I’ve had countless fittings there, and every one has been amazing!
Unfortunately, not every city has a Dillard’s, so I would try another upscale Department Store; Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neimans, etc. Their determination to give excellent client service is nearly a guarantee that their specialists are well-trained, knowledgeable, and dedicated to making the experience comfortable and helpful.
Tip #2 – V-Neck & Wrap:
This is an obvious one, right. However, there are a couple of tips that’ll make this one easier to carry off.
Fashion Tape:
Wrap dresses/tops are so-so good. Super flattering. Timelessly fashionable. However, the necklines are prone to slipping, which leads to fiddling, which leads to the item being annoying and us not wearing it.
The easiest fix and a must-have for every woman no matter your favorite feature – Hollywood Fashion Tape.
Two little strips will keep your top in place and avoid any accidental reveals.
Brami:
I’m a huge fan of Free People’s bramis.
First, because they’re super comfortable. Second, because they come in a bazillion colors, ensuring you’ll find a perfect shade to either match your skin or complement your blouse/dress, whichever you decide.
Here is another one of my current favorites.
Tip #3 – Necklaces:
You can go big or small, layered, or one large statement piece. Silver, gold, or my current favorite – a mix of strands including different metals with a bead or stone strand for a pop of interest.
Keep in mind, the bigger the statement necklace(s), the more attention you’ll draw to your décolleté.
If you decide that your bust is the feature you want to highlight, collecting an assortment giving you options for every outfit is smart and a great goal to shoot for.

Tip #4 – Empire Tops & Dresses:
I love this one! The gathering underneath the bust is a classy, super tasteful way to accentuate your favorite feature without a cleavage reveal.
And… the looser cut underneath your bust helps deemphasize any issues you have with your middle – one of the most common concerns I hear from clients.
Here is another one of my current favorites.
