Steal My Cheat Sheet

This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant

This week’s style question comes from my girl Kelsie, self-care expert and creative mind behind Simply Bentley. She asked, ‘Which brands are ‘best’ for fashion jewelry?’

As obsessed as I am with jewelry, I thought this would be an easy-peasy topic to yammer on and on about.

Wrong! Mostly because ‘best’ is so ambivalent.

So, to be fair I came up with three parameters each of the brands needed to meet in order to rank on the list.

  • the pieces won’t tarnish
  • won’t turn your finger, wrist, or neck moss green
  • the stones won’t fall out

The second challenge was seasonal offerings. I get loads of questions about what to buy and what items to toss because the  moment has passed.

So, I wanted to make sure all the brands had a fun, extensive assortment of three predominant Spring jewelry trends

  • embellished hoops
  • layer-able necklaces
  • pearls

By the way, a collection of seasonal favs are gathered at the bottom of this article. Or tap the picture to be taken straight to their site.

Enough chit-chat – let’s dive in.

#1 – Chan Luu

Price – $225

I fell in love with her years ago for her innovative leather wrap bracelets with amazing crystal and stone embellishments. (Something about them just ignites your inner bad-ass.)

But she designs so-so-much more.

Chan Luu’s Super-Power

If delicate layering necklaces are your jam, check here. Her designs are fun and different from the disk pendants everyone else is hawking. She has a crazy good selection of beaded chains that adds a fun, unexpected twist when layering.

Style Guide Tips

If your words are; girly, feminine, minimalistic, etc. you’ll want to check out Chan Luu.

They also have a wide offering of gold, silver, and a mix of both.

#2 – BaubleBar

Price $38 – Also available in deep jade green

I haven’t done a ton of price comparisons, but I’d guess that this is the most affordable brand on the list. So, if cost is a key consideration, definitely check out BaubleBar first.

The resin jewelry trend started about a year ago, and ever since, BaubleBar has had the best selection of plastic earrings, especially hoops. This season they combined the resin tend with the link trend and came up with these fun little numbers.

BaubleBar’s Super-Power

In addition to their resin assortment, BaubleBar has nailed the embellished hoop trend.

Style Guide Tips

If your words are fun, funky, or eclectic, BaubleBar might just be your new favorite place to shop.

#3 – Banana Republic

Price – On sale now for $38 – Yes! You read that right.

While their clothes are hit or miss for me, their jewelry is always on-point.

Banana Republic’s Super-Power

Their stonework is unbelievably beautiful and bold. The bright, colorful glass has the power to pull an outfit together in a nano-second. Combine that with the affordable price??? It’s bonkers girl!

Style Guide Tips

Your words are bold or dramatic? Banana Republic will have some great selections for you.

#4 – Kendra Scott

Price $98 – Other colors available.

I was late jumping on the Kendra Scott bandwagon. It seemed overnight everyone and their puppy was wearing her signature stone drop earrings. And since everyone else was doing it, I had to rebel. Then, one of my besties gave me a pair of pearl earrings from her coral collection – which I wear to death. Then this past Christmas, another bestie gave me these beautiful earrings which I wear all the time.

So, now??? I’m a total super-fan.

Kendra Scott’s Super Power

How wearable her designs are. These earrings look like they could be heavy but they’re actually light and super comfortable.

Even with her largest earrings, you can still answer the phone. Ladies – you know what I’m talking about.

She has a beautiful assortment of both gold and silver pieces. So, no matter which metal you Style Guide selected, you’ll have a wide range to choose from.

Fun Fact

When you swing by her website, definitely check out her Colour Bar. She has 50+ customizable earring and necklace styles. You pick the skeleton then choose the color and type of stone to add. I adore the personalization, and it helps us avoid running into our jewelry twin.

Style Guide Tip

Kendra Scott has one of the widest selections of rose-gold accessories. If that’s your metal, you’ll definitely want to browse her stuff.

#5 – J. Crew

If you’ve been with me for a while, then you’ll have heard or seen me rave about their jewelry more than once. You may remember, the layered necklaces from the Too Many Accessories post were all from J. Crew.

Statement pieces. If you’re looking for that one dramatic piece to make your outfit look put together, start your search here.

Style Guide Tip

Just a heads-up… their offerings are nearly exclusively gold. If you’re a silver girl, your options will be more limited.

Wrap It Up

So there you have it. Five brands you can confidently purchase and know the quality is fabulous, and you’ll be able to wear these pieces this season and beyond.

Meet Your Petite Style Coach.

Hi! I'm Angela. High-achieving Petites hire me to create a closet full of clothes they love to wear.

After working as an executive in the fashion and beauty industry for over 20 years, it became clear, successful Petites needed more than a personal shopper or a random influencer on Instagram telling them to buy the latest trendy jeans.

They needed a step-by-step approach to Petite Style. And that’s why I created the S.P.A.R.K. style system.
