A couple of weeks ago Ann Taylor sent me an email touting their new Bow Blouse. Now, given the fact that it was sleeveless with black and white polka dots – two things I typically love – you might think I rushed right out to order it.
Nope!
Instead, I recoiled in horror and quickly hit delete.
I know. I know. A pretty dramatic response to such an innocuous ad.
I totally blame my mom.
The email instantly transported me back to the 80’s and watching my mom get dressed in her tweed power suit and bow blouse.
Even though I thought everything my mom did was amazing and wonderful, watching her obsess about that damn bow seemed like waaaay too much trouble.
Are the loops perfect?
Are the tails the same length?
Is it properly fluffed?
Egads! It was enough to traumatize a girl and have me ban bows for the next several decades.

I eventually came around to this season’s predominant trend, and here’s why…
*These are not the over-done, over-worked bows ala Krystal Carrington and Dynasty.
*Bows this season are feminine and fun, and never fussy.
*Although you can find conservative versions, overall they are irreverent and sweet.
*A cute add-on that turns up the charm of dresses or a ready-made accessory.
Having said that, what’s not to love?

Just a heads-up about the headband… I love Evita Peroni hair accessories, but shipping takes forever. Their stuff is totally worth it, but plan ahead.
And that’s a wrap.
I’m sure you’ve found your own favorites. Feel free to share, we’d love to hear about them.
‘Til next week.
Hugs and happy shopping.
