Discovering a new accessory is just the best!
Re-discovering an accessory you had totally forgotten about is almost as exciting. (Kinda’ like when we chatted about Handbag Straps a couple weeks ago.)
And that’s exactly what happened with shoe clips. You know how it goes…
One picture pops into your social media feed and then another and another until every time you scroll, you’re inundated with super cute shoe clips. Well, their evil planned worked because I’m officially obsessed.
The Reason They’re Awesome:
- Personalization – What a perfect way to personalize and customize your look. I guarantee no one is going to show up in the same shoe/clip combo as you do.
- Fun – There are absolutely some sweet basic styles out there. However, there are also some crazy creative designers out there right now. And they are offering cheeky and cheerful little confections that are guaranteed to make you smile all day long.
- Price – Couture shoes that come with all these embellishments can set you back $1000. Or you can concoct your own style. And in most cases for under $50. Talk about being a savvy shopper! (To help, I included pictures of Couture styles below & the style hack.)
- Signature – If you’ve grabbed a copy of Your Guide To Style and are debating on your second unique signature… this might be the one!
If you haven’t gotten your style workbook yet, you can snag one here.
Another plus? You’ll have no problem finding awesome ones this season. (I’ve included my favorites sites below along with a snippet on what styles they do really really well.)
There are also a few tips to keep ’em looking cool and avoid the ‘I stole them from my Grandmother’ look.
Okay, enough chitter-chatter, let’s jump in…
Style Tip 1 – Not Just For Your Toes
Pom-pons on the buckle! Brilliant!
Try these with denim – Talk about adding a fun twist for jeans.
Zakia sells pom-pon shoe clips on Amazon for $13 and they come in 6 different colors. You can check them out here.
Style Tip 2 – No Rule Says You Have To Wear Both
Asymmetrical earrings have been popular for a few seasons now, and that trend translates beautifully to shoe clips.
Croquet has approximately a bazillion different bow options. And covers every style from conservative to preppy to bold and creative. Now, she’s based in Poland and while she does ship everywhere, you’ll want to allow for extra delivery time.
Style Tip 3 – What A Way To Up-Level A Pair of Pumps (Or in this case, platform sandals)
We all have them – those staple shoes that go with literally everything. You know the ones. The ones we grab when we’re running late and scrambling to leave the house in the morning. Unfortunately, they’re about as exciting as a rice cake. But… pop some sparkle on them, and suddenly they’re not the last resort but something we can’t wait to wear.
Absolutely Audrey has all of the sparkly options you could possibly desire. Here is the link to check out her dazzling designs.
If you’re a crafty girl, feeling industrious, and own a glue gun – you can always make your own shoe clips. Martha Stewart will walk you through the steps right here.
Put A Bow On It:
That’s a wrap, Sunshine! Not only did we re-discover shoe clips but came up with some fun, fresh ways to wear them.
