Our tour of all things feminine continues with one of my favorite trends – playful pleats.

Pleats are fantastic for a myriad of reasons. Two that immediately pop to mind are:

  • They are oh-so-versatile
  • And they are beyond flattering

Let’s Tackle The Versatility Factor First

You might have noticed that this is the third pleated dress OSA has featured over the last few months – and every single one of them goes from workday to weekend effortlessly.

This Free People dress is no exception. (Also available in dusty blue and black. Price $138)

Paired with Frye Harness Boots, the look is easy and casual. Perfect for those days off when we’re forced to do something other than binge watch Schitt’s Creek.

For a slightly dressier, more work-appropriate ensemble, you can pair with these Kate Spade Snakeskin Platform Sandals.

We can all agree that any dress that takes us from work to the weekend is a winner and definitely falls in the smart buy category.

Now Onto The Beyond Flattering Factor

I also promised that pleats are flattering.

The very nature of pleats – turning a lot of fabric into a more tailored, streamlined silhouette – will hide any bumps and curves you don’t want on full display. Not to mention super comfy and stress-free since you’re not forced to fiddle with your outfit all day. Yeah us!

Now having said that… the length and bodice are critical. All that additional fabric can turn pleats into a matronly, frumpy mumu in a nano-second.

Given the length (short) and neckline (deeeep), we don’t have to worry about that with this dress.

Because we’re buddies, I’ll share that undies are not optional with this dress. One, because the material catches wind similar to a boat sail and two, because the fabric is whisper-light and defies gravity – a breezy day will turn you into a flasher.

In another exciting turn of events, pleats are everywhere right now, giving you tons of choices if you decide to add pleats to your closet and are thinking this dress isn’t for you.

For example, I adore this Michael Kors Foil Skirt and this AOS Babydoll number is super sexy. (In a sweet innocent kind of way, of course.)

As always, have a blast, and if you have another favorite pleated pieces share away.

‘Til next week.

Hugs and happy shopping.

Despite the rumors, not all women love to shop.
In fact, tons of Petite women hate looking for clothes.
Hate going into a normal store and wasting time trying on crap that doesn't fit.
And let's not mention how frustrating it is to drop tons of money on an item, only to have to take it to the tailor and spend more money just so that it fits.
Well, struggle no more, Sunshine!
