Along with hotdogs and potato salad, casual dresses will likely be on your holiday menu this weekend.
Which makes this the perfect time to chat about Spring/Summer ’20 shoe trends and which will look best with all those sassy dresses we’ll be sporting.
Espadrilles:
At the risk of being named the UN Ambassador for The Country of Espadrille, (because no article seems complete without at least a mention), they really are the quintessential Spring/Summer Shoe. Perfect for sandy beach gatherings, garden parties, BBQs, watching a golf tournament, the list goes on and on and on.
If you’re looking for an awesome pair, there are two words you need to know – Sophia Webster.
She has designed the absolute cutest styles – fresh, feminine, different enough to make a statement while holding onto the trademark practicality of the style. Love, love, love her, and here are two of my favorites.
These charming gems remind me of Fruity Pebbles.
I know! Ugg is typically not a brand we think of in the same sentence as ‘cute’, but they knocked it out of the park with these little chiffon bow numbers.
Flatform:
If you caught the Anthony Wang post some months back, then you’ll know I’m a huge fan of flatforms. Much like Espadrilles, they add additional height minus the wobble-risk you’ll have with traditional heels.
From a What-To-Wear-Them-With standpoint, there is not a cuter option for t-shirt dresses. Or an easier way to ramp up your cool factor. Pair them with an ultra-girly ruffled dress and the dichotomy screams, ‘This Girl Has Awesome Style’.
If you want more options, here are some of Anthony Wang’s latest styles.

Toe-Thong:
Honest moment here… I’m not a huge fan. Or actually a fan at all. Unless you have perfect feet (which I absolutely don’t), most just aren’t that flattering. Then, there is the toe cleavage chafing issue. Ouch!
However, if your feet are lovely then these will look amazing with the plethora of Boho dresses and skirts being offered up to us this Spring.
Embellished:
Everything from chains to chunky stones to metal studs to glitter – shoes have gone bedazzled. Which makes them the perfect companion if you need to take a casual outfit and dress it up a bit.
I love this option because it combines two Spring trends into one funky option.
Sporty Sneakers:
Thank goodness this trend has lasted! And not to keep spouting off about my crush on Anthony Wang, but are these bonkers or what?!?
I absolutely love these (or something similar) paired with a more conservative dress to turn it into a funky, casual weekend option.
Gladiator Sandals:
Unfortunately, they are back. And they’re just as ugly and unflattering (unless you’re Russell Crowe) as they were the first time around. (For obvious reasons there are no pictures.)
Tie A Chiffon Bow On It:
Those are the five spring shoe trends that look great with casual spring dresses; espadrilles, flatforms, toe-thongs, anything embellished, and sporty sneakers.
